YOU’VE GOT IT IN THE BANK! – EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME
With roots dating back to the 1920s, the National Bank has been supporting Poland’s social and economic development since its inception. It implements social and economic programs, manages key enterprises for the country’s defense, and provides financial support for many state investments. Among them were the two largest and most spectacular industrial ventures of the Second Republic – the construction of Gdynia and the construction of the Central Industrial District.
The history of the Bank became the inspiration for the creation of an educational booklet, whose heroes – seven-year-old Nicholas and his dad Marcin, with the help of a magical ATM, move to the interwar period. Visiting Warsaw, Gdynia, and Stalowa Wola, they learn about Poland’s interwar history and the unusual history of the BGK. Based on the publication “Masz to jak w banku!” educational classes were created, devoted to the most interesting economic issues of the Polish interwar period: the creation of Gdynia and the Central Industrial District, the construction of factories and housing estates (including one of the youngest Polish cities – Stalowa Wola) and the special role played in these activities by the Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego.
